‘It was a bad error’… Alan Shearer says £30m Everton player made the biggest mistake in PL history

Alan Shearer has named Jordan Pickford’s mistake against Liverpool a few years ago as the biggest goalkeeping error in Premier League history.

Speaking on the , Shearer along with Gary Lineker and Micah Richards was tasked with ranking the 10 worst goalkeeping blunders in the history of this league, and while the likes of Massimo Taibi and Fabien Barthez got special mentions, according to Shearer, Pickford’s error against Liverpool was the worst of the lot.

For those who don’t remember, Pickford famously spilled a ball that was already going out of play straight into Divock Origi’s path as the Belgian secured a last-minute winner in th🍃e Mℱerseyside derby.

Pickford’s mistake was the biggest in Premier League history

Shearer gave his verdict on Pickford’s error.

“Y🌳ou have England’s number one in atജ number one Alan,” Lineker said.

“I have yeah, it was a bad error in terms of Everton vs Liverpool at Anfield. It was already going over the bar. If he’d༺ left it it would’ve gone over the bar, what part of that do you not understand?” Shearer said.

Costly

Pickford’s mistake may not have been the worst ever 🐠from a technica🍒l perspective, but, in terms of how costly it was, it’s up there.

To make any mistake in the last minute is bad enough, but to do it in the Merseyside derby is a truly unforgiv🅺able offence.

This will go down as one of the strangest mistakes in Premier League history, and, to this day, Liverpool fans arღe quick to make fun of the Everton ace for this moment.

Pickford is, of course, a great goalkeeper, but he does have his moments, and this w🌠as probably the worst thing he’s done in an Everton shirt.
