Croatian media notice the major flaw in Luka Vuskovic’s game as Tottenham youngster struggles vs Greece U21
Luka Vuskovic is generating much excitement around Tottenham Hotspur with the 17-year-old impressing out on loan in the Belgian Pro League.
The supremely talented teenager is showing many exciting qualities at a very young age with his goal-scoring ability as a centre-back being quite unnatural.
The defender netted once again this campaign, this time scoring for Crotaia’s U21s as he powered home the winning goal against Greece U21s to secure qualification to the European Championships.
He now has five goals to his name this season in 14 matches for club and country which is remarkable considering he is a defender.
However, against a young Greek side, despite securing the win and getting on the scoresheet, Vuskovic showed one area of his game that still needs work.

The big weakness in Luka Vuskovic’s game
The Croatian media, like Spurs fans, are very excited at the prospect of Vuskovic, however, they have noticed one part of his game which is letting him down.
The great news is he’s only 17 years old so he has plenty of time to perfect his game, but before he arrives in the Premier League, he must work on his defending from long balls.
Greece exposed this weakness in the Tottenham defender’s game throughout the match with Croatian outlet writing: “It is incomprehensible how many problems our defenders had with long balls throughout the game, it mostly refers to Luka Vuskovic. In one situation, a Greek player got between him and Matija Bardic, and they neither communicated nor took over.
“Vuskovic also had this problem when he played in Hajduk because until then he was used to playing with the ball in his feet in the centre as a kid.
“He lacks some defensive things, but that comes with training and, most importantly, with experience. In that situation, when the Greeks had a great chance, he only had to take a step back and catch the man in the backfield. It will come.”
Luka Vuskovic’s stats for Westerlo are impressive
Vuskovic’s stats for Westerlo are very impressive this season with his attacking data particularly standing out with four goals and one assist.
The young Croat’s defensive numbers are also strong although there is still plenty of work to be done on that side of his game with Westerlo having kept just one clean sheet and conceded 18 times.
