‘It is absolutely ridiculous’… Micah Richards amazed by what 32-year-old Rangers player has done
Micah Richards has suggested that he has been amazed by what one Rangers player has managed to do since his arrival at Ibrox following their 3-0 win at the weekend.
Philippe Clement’s men have gone to the summit of the Scottish Premiership table after beating St Johnstone 3-0 at McDiarmid Park on Sunday. The Gers have now won 12 of their last 13 league games to take top spot.
And James Tavernier played a key role in their latest victory. The 32-year-old scored twice for the Light Blues to take his tally to 12 league goals this season. Meanwhile, he has provided eight assists.
Micah Richards lauds James Tavernier after Rangers win
Remarkably, Tavernier had scored just eight goals in more than 100 career appearances before his move to Ibrox. Since then however, he has bagged 120 goals and contributed 127 assists in 443 games in all competitions.

And speaking on , Micah Richards insisted that he cannot quite believe what the full-back has managed to achieve during his time at Rangers.
“Tavernier the right-back has scored over 100 goals. I know he takes penalties but it is absolutely ridiculous,” he said.
Lot more to come from the skipper
As shown by , Tavernier has scored 64 penalties during his time with Rangers. So that means that 56 goals have come from other areas of the pitch, including plenty of free-kicks.
That is still an outstanding return. Micah Richards played in the same position and ended his career with just 11 goals in almost 300 games at club level. And Richards’ record is surely much more representative of the norm for right-backs.
And given that Tavernier has 12 in the league this season, there is every chance that there is a lot more to come from the skipper in the years ahead.
