Issa Diop full of praise for new West Ham team-mates Sebastien Haller

West Ham defender Issa Diop has been about his new team-mate, club-record signing Sebastien Haller.

Diop was effusive in his praise for a player he has played with at youth level for France and expects his countryman to make a splash.

He : “Sebastien is a target man who can score, do everything, has good speed. He is a complete striker, very strong and has very good technique. I played alongside him for France Under 21s, so I know how difficult he is to challenge.

“He uses his body very well to make things tough for the defenders. As a person, he is also very good. He is humble but also very funny, so he will be good to have in the squad. He’s going to bring a lot to this club.”

Haller was not West Ham’s first choice – that was Maxi Gomez – but from what Diop says, he has all the attributes to suit English football.

Strikers don’t come cheap these days and that pricetag is why Haller is a bit of a gamble – especially given West Ham’s awful track record buying frontmen in modern times.

But in this Hammers side, chances will be created. So if Haller can lead the line powerfully and get himself into the right positions, he should get goals this term.
