Issa Diop claims West Ham striker Sebastien Haller was angry after beating Watford

Issa Diop has explained that West Ham teammate Sebastien Haller was not amused earlier in the season despite his match-winning display against Watford.

The Hammers beat Watford 3-1 in the Premier League back in August, which was their first win of the season and they followed that up by beating Norwich City too before the international break.

With the score tied at 1-1 at half-time against Watford, Haller made his mark in the second period with two goals.

The 25-year-old centre-forward made a great run into the box to tap in his first, while his second was a bicycle kick inside the penalty area.

He has arrived for a club record £45million () fee from German club Eintracht Frankfurt and his job is to be a goal machine in attack.

Diop recalled that Haller was angry with his individual performance against Watford.

“Like I said before when we signed him, it is not a surprise to me that Seb has done well because I have played with him and I know all his capacity to be good in England because he has everything to be a very good striker in this league,”

“He has the ambition to be the best. He’s very good, he’s very clever and after Watford he was not very happy because he said he played badly and we played badly but he scored two goals, so it’s good and I hope he’s going to be bad all season and score two goals in every game!”

TBR’s View:

It’s certainly a good thing for West Ham if Haller is disappointed by his start to the season, as the early signs are he could be the best striker they have had in years and turn out to be a real favourite at the London Stadium.

His performances are yet to reach his peak, but he’s held the ball up really well with his strength and also managed three goals so far.

He certainly looks a perfect fit for the style of the Premier League and is a great outlet to have spearheading the attack.
