Isaac Hayden says Newcastle’s team spirit is even better now than under Rafa Benitez

Newcastle midfielder Isaac Hayden remained upbeat following his side’s defeat against Liverpool on Saturday,

Hayden felt that his side showed their stronger team spirit in performing better than Europa League club Arsenal did when they travelled to Anfield last month.

He : “The team spirit is massive here. The manager could see it the moment he walked through the door. Steve Bruce has got us together even more and made us better at it.  You can now see that everybody is fighting for the same cause. We’re all trying to go in the same direction.

“I look at the Arsenal game and I don’t think we were any different to when they came here, we were probably better.”

TBR’s View – Newcastle’s players are going to need spirit to get through a testing season

Newcastle is a club divided off the pitch and until that is sorted, the players themselves are going to need unity to get results on it.

They have now taken the lead away against Tottenham and Liverpool, bloodying the noses of the two Champions League finalists.

But the side will need to stick together throughout an entire campaign which could see them scrapping around the drop zone under Bruce, who is not the best tactician.
