James Forrest is in the form of his life at the moment.
The winger hit a hat-trick for Scotland on Tuesday against Israel to give Alex McLeish’s side a Euro 2020 play-off place.

It was five goals in just one-and-a-half international games, after he bagged a brace against Albania last week.
For club and country it’s now 12 strikes in 11 games, which is a remarkable return for a non-striker.
Forrest really is playing some of the best football of his career right now, but what could be the reason for this incredible purple patch that has seemingly come out of nowhere?
The answer may lie with a player that no longer even plays for Celtic: Patrick Roberts.
Roberts the competition Forrest needed?
Roberts, who now plies his trade over in Spain with Girona on loan from Manchester City, spent two-and-a-half campaigns at Parkhead.

He really caught the eye in his first full season, scoring 15 goals in 43 matches in total.
There was some slight ill feeling that Roberts’ move wasn’t made permanent, but it can now be argued that his time at the club lit a fire beneath Forrest, who is making it very hard for Hoops supporters to miss Roberts now.
Forrest, who has been with Celtic all his career, looked to have lost his way a bit when Roberts was at the club and playing well.

But it looks as though his influence may have had a positive impact on Forrest, whose form had been brilliant even before his recent spate of goals.
He has stepped up to the plate and then some, and Celtic supporters may well have the competition provided by Roberts to thank for the rejuvenated Forrest.
