Is Jamal Lewis the man Leicester need to snap up in place of Ben Chilwell?

Leicester were seen off last night by Norwich City, as Jamal Lewis proved why he might just be the ideal replacement for Ben Chilwell.

Talk about Chilwell is rife in terms of a potential summer move. Indeed, Chelsea have been with making Chilwell one of their number on transfer targets.

Interest in Chilwell is bound to be high given his performances this term. He’s been one of the key ingredients as Leicester have mounted a Champions League push. Along the way, he’s cemented himself as the main man for England in the left-back spot, too.

However, the Foxes will know they may well have let Chilwell leave. With that, comes the inevitable search for a replacement.

But that search might be a short one if the performance of Lewis was anything to go by last night.

The young Norwich star was in fine form and scored a stunning winner to breathe new life into the Canaries’ survival hopes. It makes sense, then, for Leicester to be keeping a close eye on the 22-year-old.

Goals are rare but the quality is there

While Norwich might have struggled in general this term, the performances of both Lewis and fellow full-back, Max Aarons, have caught the eye.

Indeed, they’ve pretty much left off where they finished last season. Lewis contributed four assists as Norwich won the title while Aarons helped himself to two goals and six assists. That’s a pretty impressive contribution of 12 goals between the full-backs.

Chilwell, on the other hand, has scored twice and assisted three this term. Leicester, then, need someone who can come straight in and help out in an attacking sense like their current left-back does.

Lewis’s performance for Norwich last night was one of maturity and confidence. He looked assured with the ball and if Norwich do go down, a club like Leicester will surely make their move.

Brendan Rodgers loves working with and improving young players. There is every chance, then, that he might see Jamal Lewis as his next work-in-progress for the Foxes.
