Irish media delivers Caoimhin Kelleher verdict as Liverpool keeper helps his nation defeat Finland

Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher was in international action on Thursday night.

The Reds stopper kept goal for the Republic of Ireland in their 2-1 win over Finland in the Nations League.

Kelleher had to pick the ball out of the back of his net on 17 minutes after a mistake from one of his defenders.

Irish captain Nathan Collins underhit a back pass, which allowed Joel Pohjanpalo to race through and slot home past the Liverpool ace.

However, the visitors fought back and found the equaliser in the 57th minute, heading home from Liam Brady’s free kick.

Brady then went from provider to goalscorer as he found the winner two minutes from time, firing Festy Ebosele’s cross into the roof of the Finnish net.

With Kelleher set for an extended run in the Liverpool first team, Reds fans’ eyes will be on the Irish keeper in the international break.
