Investor is now trying to raise money to buy Tottenham Hotspur

There has been talk of a Tottenham takeover for a long time now as Spurs look to get to the next level.

A number of interested parties have been linked with investing in Tottenham.

Qatar Sports Investments have long been linked with Spurs, but now, a name more familiar to Premier League fans could get involved in this process.

Indeed, Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi are on the market for new investment opportunities after leaving Newcastle, and according to Duncan Castles, they want to buy Tottenham.

Speaking on , Castles claimed that Staveley and Ghodoussi are trying to raise money to buy a new Premier League club, stating that Tottenham are their primary target.

Amanda Staveley wants to buy Tottenham

Castles shared what he’s heard about a potential Tottenham takeover.

“The idea is for Staveley and her husband to raise money in a fund in order to purchase what will probably be a Premier League club. I’m told that the primary target is Tottenham Hotspur. They see that as the most attractive of the assets for external investors in the Premier League as present,’ Staveley said.

“I’m told they’re still in the process of raising funds. They’re hopeful of raising that money, but it’s not in place yet.”

Daniel Levy could stay at Tottenham

Staveley and Ghoudoussi could come on board as new investors at Tottenham, but it’s unlikely that we’re going to see Daniel Levy depart anytime soon.

Indeed, according to Kieran Maguire, Levy would want to stay as chairman in the event of any takeover.

“Spurs are very attractive. I think the big issue is that ENIC have a majority stake Levy would want to continue to be chairman should a new owner come in,” Maguire said.

“This is the same issue with Steve Parish at Crystal Palace. They don’t want to give up the power.

“There is certainly interest in Spurs. They are a fantastic proposition. You don’t have to spend anything on infrastructure – the stadium and training faculties are there, both of which are magnificent.”

Whether or not Staveley and Ghodoussi can raise the money needed to buy Spurs remains to be seen, but given their track record of brokering these types of deals, there could well be something in this one.
