The international break arrives at a good time for Tottenham

The international break arrives at a good time for Tottenham as they try to get a number of key players back from injury. They currently have seven first-team players on the treatment table, which is more than any other Premier League club.

Although they managed to beat Cardiff City at the weekend, it wasn’t a great performance. Spurs won the game by only one goal against ten men.

A large reason for that was the current injury crisis, as they were forced to play a midfield of Moussa Sissoko, Eric Dier, Harry Winks and Son Heung-min. The attacking flair and creativity of Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen was missing.

Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, Mousa Dembele, Serge Aurier and Vincent Janssen are also missing at the time of writing.

It will be hoped that they can get two or three of their big hitters back, as Tottenham try to get their season on the right track.

They have a huge London derby against West Ham on the horizon, followed by a must-win Champions League match against PSV Eindhoven.

During this break, they need to get players back on the pitch. If they can’t do that, it gives them time to establish an alternative style of play, as the performance against Cardiff was worrying.
