‘Interest remains’… Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham still really want to sign ‘outstanding’ £40m player
Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now shared an important update on a player Tottenham Hotspur could once again pursue this summer.
Ange Postecoglou has already made excellent progress at Spurs, not only transforming the club’s playing philosophy but also making solid inroads with his squad rebuild.

It appears that Postecoglou has a very productive relationship with Daniel Levy – the pair seem aligned on the direction the club is heading.
That being said, the coming summer will be a crucial one for Spurs, who should be in a strong financial position to improve.
Perhaps a striker to finally replace Harry Kane will be on the cards, someone to compliment Richarlison rather than replace him.
However, it appears that Tottenham still harbour interest in a central midfielder this summer too, and Romano has now been providing the latest.
Speaking on ‘’, Romano spoke about Conor Gallagher’s contract situation at Chelsea, and said that interest from Spurs is still there.
Fabrizio Romano says Tottenham still have strong interest in Conor Gallagher this summer
Romano believed that the next few months will be crucial in deciding Gallagher’s future, and thought he’ll be sold this summer if a new contract isn’t agreed.
He said: “It’s really important to see what Chelsea want to do now because the negotiations to extend his contract were never advanced or concrete so far.
“There was never really an agreement close for Conor Gallagher to extend his contract – now it’s up to Chelsea.

“I think these months will be crucial, March, April, May, to understand what Chelsea want to do, otherwise they have to sell the player in the summer because it reminds of the Mason Mount situation last year.
“So it’s on Chelsea, if they want to extend his contract, it’s going to be time to make it happen now.
“Otherwise in the summer they can’t risk with a player out of contract in the summer of 2025 to keep him at the club and then lose him as a free agent next year.
“So the interest from Tottenham remains, there are also other clubs interested in Conor Gallagher, so it would be an open market for him.
“It’s important to say for Chelsea that there’s still the possibility to extend his contract.”
One to watch
Of course, it still feels incredibly odd that there’s even the possibility that Chelsea would consider a sale.
Gallagher once again demonstrated his ‘outstanding’ quality at Crystal Palace on Monday night.
And perhaps the club would only be able to fetch around £40m from a club like Tottenham this summer, given the contract situation that Romano explained.
Either way, Chelsea’s loss could be Spurs’ gain on this occasion.
And with all that said, Tottenham have also now been told how much it would cost to sign Albert Gudmundsson this summer.
