‘Instant impact’: Journalist claims ‘excellent’ attacker has now shot up Newcastle’s priority list
The ‘excellent’ Burnley player has been heavily linked with a move away from Burnley this summer after their relegation from the Championship.
West Ham have reportedly held initial talks over a potential move for the Ivorian, but Newcastle have now made Cornet one of their top priorities.

: “He’s definitely one Newcastle are prioritising because he’s available and they think he would make an instant impact in that team.
“He’s also really good value compared to other players in his position with that sort of quality. So, he’s shot up Newcastle’s wanted list recently.”
Cornet arrived at Turf Moor last season and was the shining star in a team that ultimately couldn’t avoid relegation.
The attacker has a relegation release clause of £17.5m, but Newcastle are reportedly trying to negotiate paying for Cornet in instalments, and Burnley want closer to £25m in this instance.
Cornet now one of Newcastle’s top priorities
It’s easy to see why Newcastle would be interested in signing Cornet.
“he’d be ready to go from day one”.

Even if Newcastle don’t use his release clause, it sets a base level valuation that they can negotiate with.
Eddie Howe’s side have found some negotiations tough this summer, with every club now knowing how much money Newcastle have available to spend.
An example of this is Newcastle’s pursuit of James Maddison, who is reportedly open to joining the Magpies, but Leicester City have set his asking price at £60m.
