‘Insane’: Lijnders names the Liverpool player who’s blown away staff in pre-season training
Liverpool are currently working hard in Austria ahead of the new campaign. During the latest instalment of his training camp diary, Pep Lijnders has raved about Caoimhin Kelleher.
The Reds will hope to make amends for last season’s feeble title defence. Jurgen Klopp’s men scraped a top-four on the final day of the campaign, following rotten luck with injuries.
This season should be different. Liverpool’s injured players are back and new additions could arrive before the campaign starts.

With a plethora of stellar recruits unlikely, Klopp could turn his attention towards some of the club’s younger talents.
One of those could be Kelleher. The Republic of Ireland international made his Premier League debut last season and looks to have a bright future.
During the last few days of training, he’s impressed Lijnders. Klopp’s trusted lieutenant has been raving about him for his heroics during a practice tournament on the training pitch.
He told the club’s official website: “The player of the tournament was (Caoimhin) Kelleher. His shot-stopping and speed reactions were just insane. It shows that a goalkeeper can win you tournaments. There was some swearing from the older players towards him!”
Bright future: Kelleher should get Liverpool opportunities this season
The 22-year-old looks set to be Liverpool’s number two once again this season, behind Brazilian stopper Alisson.
He did well when called upon last season and with more experience, he could develop into a fine goalkeeper.
Kelleher has a solitary cap for the Republic of Ireland and the last 12 months have gone really well for him.

Klopp has showcased a willingness to utilise the club’s academy during his time at Anfield.
With Liverpool fighting in four competitions next season, Kelleher should get plenty of chances to further impress the boss.
If he gets them, it’s down to him to continue impressing and it doesn’t sound as though he’s doing his chances any harm in Austria right now.
