‘Incredible’… Timo Werner left amazed after what 22-year-old Tottenham player did vs Crystal Palace

Timo Werner has lauded his Tottenham Hotspur teammate Brennan Johnson after the winger came off the bench to grab two assists against Crystal Palace yesterday.

Spurs fans would have been forgiven for fearing the worst after Eberechi Eze gave Palace the lead against the run of play on Saturday.

Tottenham had dominated up until Eze’s strike just before the hour mark, with Heung-min Son hitting the post and Timo Werner also going close.

But Ange Postecoglou’s men stuck to the task and eventually found a breakthrough as Werner netted his first goal for the club. It was a simple tap-in for the German after Brennan Johnson’s persistence down the right-hand side paid off.

Johnson started from the bench yesterday but replaced Rodrigo Bentancur just after the hour mark in what was an attacking move from Postecoglou.

It certainly had the desired effect as Johnson went on to grab two assists as he also set up Son in the 88th minute.

While the Welshman hasn’t exactly hit the ground running since his switch from Nottingham Forest, his numbers suggest he’s doing his part for Tottenham.

Indeed, the winger has managed three goals and six assists in the Premier League – the same number of assists as Arsenal playmaker Martin Odegaard.

You’d imagine there is plenty more to come from Johnson and as he continues to adjust to Postecoglou’s system, we’re likely to see the best of the youngster.
