Ben Davies praises midfielder Tottenham sold

Speaking on the podcast, Davies spoke highly of Dele Alli from his time at Tottenham, claiming that he was an incredible player who could’ve reached a similar level to Jude Bellingham.

“Dele was incredible when he turned up. He was a kid from Milton Keynes and he was thrown into training and he just did stuff like he was playing for fun.”

Sometimes it would work and sometimes it didn’t. Pre-season, we played against Real Madrid and it was the Dele show, there was no difference in the level of opposition. What he did in League One he would try to do against Modric and Kroos.

“That season when he was breaking through and scoring goals, it was insane, we didn’t appreciate at the time how good he was off the ball for us. I said it many times I’d like to see him go back to playing deeper. He’s still incredibly fit, I’d love to see him back in that role.

“There was no limit for him, he could’ve been similar to a Bellingham player now, not technically as good as Jude is, but ultimately the game comes to scoring goals, and Dele could find a way to score or assist every game.”

Dele Alli had so much potential

Dele Alli had all of the potential in the world during his time at Spurs.

The midfielder won back-to-back PFA Young Player of the Year awards at Tottenham, and he was one of the most dangerous goalscoring midfielders in the Premier League at the age of just 21.

Sadly, things haven’t quite gone to play for Alli since that point. He’s had numerous struggles off the pitch, and, unfortunately, he’s not been able to fulfil his potential.

Now at Everton, it’s been a long time since Dele Alli has played Premier League football, but, hopefully, he’ll be back on the pitch soon and back to his best.
