‘In two or three years’: Robert Pires backs ‘wonderful’ PL boss to replace Arteta at Arsenal
Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes that Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira could manage the Gunners in a few years time.
Vieira took charge of the Eagles earlier this summer and there were a lot of doubts surrounding his appointment. Many people weren’t convinced that he had what it takes to become the manager of a Premier League club, but early signs show that Palace were right to bring him in.
The Eagles look a completely different side under Vieira. He has only won three games so far, but Crystal Palace look so much more competitive under him than they did under their previous boss Roy Hodgson, who has already labelled the job his successor is doing as ‘‘.
Pires, like many of us, has been impressed with Vieira. He believes that a big Premier League side will look to appoint him as their new manager in two or three years time, and it could even be Arsenal.

Pires, who knows Vieira really well, told : “I was talking to Patrick a month ago and he says the squad at Crystal Palace is of a very good quality. He will for sure be a great manager.
“When Patrick was on the field he was like a warrior and as a manager, he is always positive. He of course knows the Premier League very well too.
“If you have an opportunity like Palace, you have to take it. But in two or three years time, Patrick will receive some offers from big Premier League clubs, he could manage Arsenal too.
“You never know for the future – but trust me, he will be a good manager.”

With Mikel Arteta, Arsenal have already shown that they aren’t afraid to hand the job to someone who has played for the club before.
The Spaniard is doing a decent job at the moment and the Gunners won’t look for a change anytime soon. However, a role could well be available in a few years time and Vieira is not a bad shout.
If the legendary Frenchman continues to do a good job at Palace, he will be an attractive option for most clubs. A return to Arsenal would be a thing of dreams for fans, but the focus, for now, is on Arteta.
The Spaniard has to get the Gunners back into the Champions League. They are in a good place at the moment, but there’s still a long way to go in the season and there will be plenty of speed bumps along the way.
