‘In the next hours’: Fabrizio Romano has some exciting news for West Ham fans

Emerson Palmieri is going to sign for West Ham United “in the next hours”, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Hammers boss David Moyes has been keen to add a left-back to his squad all summer.

This would provide competition for Aaron Cresswell, who may also be needed in a back three.

West Ham are also short in that position following Arthur Masuaku’s move to Besiktas.

Now, it looks as though Moyes is about to get his man, with just over a week left in the transfer window.

Romano, taking to on Tuesday morning, said Palmieri had completed his medical at West Ham.

“He’s gonna sign the contract in the next hours,” he added.

West Ham will reportedly pay Chelsea an initial £13m, plus £2m in add-ons.

And once the documents are signed, the final step – the official statement – will follow, added Romano.

Palmieri has struggled to become a regular at Stamford Bridge since his 2018 move from Roma.

The 28-year-old Italy international spent last season on loan at Lyon.

Palmieri is now set to become West Ham’s seventh signing of the summer.

The Hammers have already signed Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo for £30m, Nayef Aguerd from Rennes for £30m and Maxwel Cornet from Burnley for £17.5m.

West Ham have also signed Flynn Downes from Swansea for £12m, and Thilo Kehrer and Alphonse Areola, each for a reported £10m from Paris Saint-Germain.

The East Londoners are currently bottom of the Premier League without a point from three matches.
