‘In the next day’… After Timo Werner, Tottenham want to complete another ‘top-level’ signing now

Fabrizio Romano claims that Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to wrap up a deal for Genoa’s Radu Dragusin ‘in the next day’.

It comes after the news broke yesterday that Tottenham are closing in on a deal to sign Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig.

Spurs’ interest in Radu Dragusin has been well-documented over the past week, with the North Londoners keen to snap up a new centre-back.

There have been claims that Tottenham are working to complete an agreement with Genoa to land Dragusin over the weekend.

Napoli are also keen on the Romanian defender and are currently rivalling Spurs for his signature.

But after Tottenham reached a full agreement with Leipzig to sign Werner on loan yesterday, it seems they are now keen to wrap up a deal for Dragusin ‘in the next day’.

Tottenham want Dragusin deal done ‘in the next day’

Speaking on the podcast on Saturday evening, Romano claimed that Tottenham are working to complete a deal to sign Dragusin ‘as soon as possible’.

“They will be busy next week,” the transfer insider said. “Even today, and from what I’m told tomorrow, Tottenham will be in contact for Radu Dragusin the centre-back of Genoa.

“There will be new conversations, they are discussing about the structure of the deal but the negotiation is absolutely on. We’ve had many stories in recent days about Napoli but it’s always been Tottenham in the race. It’s always been Tottenham in control of this deal.

“And I keep saying that Tottenham are working on this deal to make it happen in the next day.

“So, negotiations ongoing for Dragusin and will be the main focus for Tottenham to obviously get a new centre-back and to give Ange Postecoglou Dragusin as soon as possible.”

Not many would have expected Spurs to wrap up a deal for a new forward before bringing in a centre-back.

Their struggles in the position have been evident over the past few weeks, with Micky van de Ven missing nine league games after picking up a hamstring injury in November.

The Dutchman is closing in on a return to the starting XI after being named in the matchday squad in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Burnley on Friday.

But with Cristian Romero also currently ruled out with a hamstring injury, it feels vital that Tottenham snap up a centre-back as soon as possible.

Dragusin has been lauded for his potential to become a ‘top-level’ centre-back. At 21, the defender has excelled during his time at Genoa after leaving Juventus.

It will be intriguing to see how this deal develops over the coming days as Ange Postecoglou will undoubtedly be keen to have reinforcements through the door before Spurs face Manchester United next Sunday.
