‘I’m surprised’… Neil Lennon left shocked by what Brendan Rodgers hasn’t done at Celtic
Celtic’s latest performances have left Neil Lennon perplexed at Brendan Rodgers.
The former Celtic manager was speaking after the Hoops lost to Hearts at the weekend but it is what has not happened prior to that result that has left Lennon really surprised that Rodgers hasn’t changed one thing with his team.
Asked if he 🙈thought Rodgers would have changed his style by now, Lennon said [], “I thought so. If the style isn’t working he is quite flexible, Brendan. He can go to a back three.
“Maybe go 3-5-2 for a few games. The players are flexible and adaptable. Sometimes✤ it’s good to change it and they’ve got the playe🧜rs and they’ve got the quality to do that.
“And it might just give the opposition something else to think about. And I’m not saying you stay with that the whole way but sometimes it’s good to freshen things up when you’re just starting to become not easy to play against but teams have🥂 started to get the better of you or work out your 4-3-3 or your 4-2-3-1.
“I’m surprised he hasn’t done that already because I’ve seen him do it at Leicester on man🥂y occasions.
“But the bottom line is he’s a top manager. He’s been over the course and distance before, maybe not gone through this at Celtic before, but he will look forward to the challenge of thi𒉰s.”
The problem with the system Rodgers is playing just now is that he doesn’t have the playe𝔍rs necessary to play win𒁃gers.
Liel Abada and Daizen Maeda have both been out injured and it is clear with Rodgers constantly switching between Hyunjun Yang, Mikey Johnston and James Forrest, it is blatantly obvious that he was trying to fit square pegs into round holes.
Maybe a little tweak to the system till he gets the players capable of playing his way would be a good idea because what Rodgers is doing right now is clearly not working.
