‘I’m not so sure’: Don Hutchison reacts to latest Everton manager rumour by making prediction
Don Hutchison has predicted that it may not end well for Rafael Benitez at Everton if he takes charge at Goodison Park.
claims the Toffees are “close” to appointing 61-year-old Benitez their new manager. Apparently, he’s the number one option for the Merseyside club’s hierarchy.
He’s an available boss currently out of work, but there is a sense of controversy due to the fact he’s an ex-Liverpool manager.
In addition, say Roberto Martinez is still a potential candidate for the vacant Everton managerial position despite talks with Benitez.
Benitez is available immediately to take a role. Meanwhile, 47-year-old Martinez is currently in charge of Belgium at this summer’s Euro 2020.
Pundit and ex-Everton player Hutchison doesn’t feel like Benitez would suit his former club.
“It doesn’t feel like a good fit to me… He’s a very defensive sided coach,” Hutchison told .
“He still lives on Merseyside, so that’s the easy drawer for him. It’s the easy pick for him if he takes Everton. I’m not so sure it’s going to end well.”

How will Everton fans greet Benitez?
If Benitez is named as the new Everton manager, the response from supporters will be fascinating.
Firstly, you would expect a loyal Everton fanbase to get behind their team when they start fresh under a new coach. Secondly, Benitez is a proven Spanish boss who’s been in charge of some of Europe’s elite clubs. He’s held positions at the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool. However, when a few bad results come will the fans turn quickly?
Everton need to get a deal over the line for a new manager quickly, so the fans may need to swallow their pride on him.
He will be unpopular with some due to his Liverpool connection, along with the fact he’s tactically astute in the way he focuses on defending. But, reports suggest he will soon be in the dugout.
