Illan Meslier reacts to Leeds’ draw with Arsenal on Instagram; Matteo Guendouzi’s brother replies
Matteo Guendouzi’s brother appears to have expressed his disappointment after Leeds United failed to beat Arsenal on Sunday as the youngster replied to Illan Meslier’s Instagram post following the stalemate.
The Whites were held to a goalless draw at Elland Road. The most notable incident came when Nicolas Pepe was sent off for clashing with Gjanni Alioski.

However, both sides hit the woodwork during the game, with Leeds coming agonisingly close on a number of occasions.
The Gunners had openings towards the end of the game. But it did appear that Leeds were considerably more likely to find a winner if anyone was going to snatch the three points.

Ultimately however, that winner never came. And that prompted plenty of the Whites’ squad to express some disappointment on social media following the game.
Meslier – who made a brilliant stop from Bukayo Saka – was amongst those to take to Instagram…

Unsurprisingly, several teammates replied to Meslier’s post. But there was an interesting response from one player with something of a connection to Arsenal.
Milan Guendouzi would have played alongside Meslier – who cost £5 million in the summer (via ) – in the Lorient youth ranks. But of course, he is also the brother of Gunners-owned midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.
The 21-year-old is currently out on loan at Hertha Berlin after falling out of favour under Mikel Arteta.
So that may be why his younger brother was seemingly willing to express his disappointment that Meslier was not on the winning side.
His response to Meslier’s post translated as: ‘Victory was so near’.
