‘If we sign I’ll cry’: Some West Ham fans react to links with 30-year-old

West Ham transfer rumours are now linking them to Sevilla attacker Luuk de Jong – and some Hammers fans on Twitter are not happy.

claims that West Ham may look towards the 30-year-old as a target before this summer’s window shuts at the end of August.

The report states that Sevilla will grant the sale of the centre-forward, however, it’s unclear on how much he will cost.

Also, Irons manager David Moyes wants to bring in a new striker as competition for Michail Antonio this season.

De Jong had a brief loan spell with Newcastle United back in 2014 that never set alight, but has shown his quality elsewhere. The Holland international has 135 goals in 248 Eredivisie games in his homeland.

West Ham fans not buying into Luuk de Jong links

A selection of Hammers supporters on social media have made it clear they want to avoid De Jong in the transfer market because he’s not good enough.

It’s blatantly obvious that the club need to bring in cover for Antonio in the squad given the amount of fixtures to play this campaign, especially given his history of picking up injuries.

The fact De Jong is available this summer means he could be a solid contingency plan if they fail elsewhere. Time is running out though, quickly.
