If reports are true, Liverpool could sign player who’s ‘destined for big things’ this week – TBR View

Liverpool seem to have hit the ground running with regards to pursuing transfer targets this summer.

There have been reports claiming the Reds are going in the right direction for Darwin Nunez.

This would no doubt be a contender for signing of the 2022 summer transfer window.

Nonetheless, Liverpool appear to be looking for players in different positions.

And according to one report, the Reds are close to signing one of Britain’s top talents.

The claims Liverpool could land Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay as early as this week.

According to the Scottish outlet, the Reds have made an official offer and negotiations remain on-going.

Liverpool reportedly went in with a guaranteed £3.5million offer but are willing to go up to £4million up front.

In addition, the Anfield outfit will also look to put ‘significant add-ons’ into the deal.

And ‘Liverpool sources are confident a deal can be agreed this week.’

This is exciting news for the Reds, as Ramsay is a superb talent who looks to have a very bright future in the game.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a superb breakthrough season at the Scottish top-flight club.

He only made his senior debut in March 2021, in a Scottish Cup trip to Dumbarton.

Since then, however, he has kicked on massively, and is now the Dons’ first-choice right-back.

Ramsay featured 33 times for Aberdeen last term, both domestically and in the Europa Conference League.

He also registered an impressive nine assists for his club, as well as one goal.

Ramsay also played against the likes of Celtic and Rangers at Parkhead and Ibrox.

This means he already knows how to handle the pressure in huge games.

“Done exceptionally well”

Aberdeen icon Phil McGuire has spoken highly of Ramsay, tipping him to shine at Anfield.

“Calvin’s done exceptionally well and you can see why Liverpool want him,” he told the .

“He has been in a good club for his development and to keep him grounded, which is clear to see.

“I liken his situation to big Scott (McKenna of Nottingham Forest).

“He has just won the play-offs and is now looking towards the Premier League.

“These opportunities will come for Calvin. It all comes down to the timing for the player and Aberdeen as well.

“You can see he is destined for big things and he has to make the right decisions.

“There is no doubt Liverpool would be a great opportunity for him.”

Ramsay probably won’t be thrust into regular first-team action right away.

But with the right guidance – which he’ll get at Liverpool – he certainly looks like he could go on to become a star.
