If Celtic land Ranieri, Leicester right-back is perfect summer signing
that Celtic have shortlisted Claudio Ranieri as a potential permanent manager, as Neil Lennon continues to remain in interim charge of the Hoops.
The 67-year-old has only been given a contract by AS Roma until the end of the season and it looks unlikely that he will be given the job beyond that. Lennon is in a similar predicament.
Ranieri is renowned for managing Chelsea and taking Leicester City to the Premier League title in what is one of sport’s most remarkable achievements. If he joins Celtic, one of his league-winning defenders would be a top signing.
Celtic are in desperate need of a right-back. Mikael Lustig’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and a new deal is unlikely to arrive. Jeremy Toljan has disappointed while on loan, and will return to Borussia Dortmund.

Anthony Ralston’s career at Celtic is yet to get going. So a right-sided defender is crucial if Celtic are to achieve their dream of 10 in a row. Danny Simpson starred in Leicester’s Premier League triumph.
The 32-year-old won the 2015-16 Premier League title with Leicester under Ranieri, but is now available on a free transfer as his Foxes contract is set to expire.
Surely, then, if Ranieri joins Celtic as manager, luring Simpson to Parkhead to form a reunion between the two parties would solve Celtic’s lack of a right-back. On a free, he would be an excellent signing.
