‘I’d be stunned if Spurs don’t’: Gold makes exciting Tottenham summer transfer prediction

Alasdair Gold says he’d be “stunned” if Tottenham Hotspur didn’t move for at least one high-profile free signing this summer.

Spurs bolstered their ranks during the January transfer window with two acquisitions from Juventus.

However, there’s certainly scope for Tottenham to bring in more players at the end of the season.

And this summer, a number of world-class footballers will soon be out of contract.

The likes of Paulo Dybala, Franck Kessie and Jesse Lingard all have a few months left of their respective deals.

In ‘s latest Tottenham Q&A, a fan asked whether Spurs are looking at any soon-to-be free agents.

“Able to put more of their budget elsewhere”

Gold noted how Fabio Paratici likes high-profile free transfers, before naming several players Spurs could well be looking at.

“I reported a few weeks back that Spurs have spoken to Jesse Lingard’s representatives about a potential summer move,” replied Gold.

“That could be one to come back to in a few months although there have been some indications that he may prefer a move abroad.

“Fabio Paratici does like a free transfer so I’d be stunned if Spurs don’t attempt to bring a player or two without a fee to be able to put more of their budget elsewhere.

“Franck Kessie will be available and is a player Paratici and Conte like but there will be competition for his services and he could well want to stay in Serie A.

“If Paulo Dybala cannot agree a new deal at Juventus, Spurs would certainly be interested but again so will many others.

“There could be others out there such as Isco and Conte’s former Inter Milan player Ivan Perisic, who might catch Spurs’ eye.

“While another former Conte man in Marcelo Brozovic is expected to extend his stay at Inter.

“Perhaps someone like Divock Origi might catch the eye as another striker. Although he would likely want to go somewhere to be first choice if he does leave Liverpool.”

Summer should prove exciting for Tottenham on transfer front – TBR View

Tottenham may have struggled in the January transfer window, but the summer will be a different kettle of fish.

Clubs aren’t as reluctant to part company with their top players. They can regroup and bring in replacements before the season starts.

And this summer, there will be plenty of superb footballers whose contracts run out and will have plenty of suitors.

All of the players Gold mentioned would strengthen the Tottenham ranks considerably.

And a couple of those have worked with Conte and Paratici before.

Spurs still have the FA Cup and European qualification to play for this term. Then hopefully in the summer they can kick on.
