Wales faced the Czech Republic in their World Cup qualifier yesterday and Daniel James played a key part in helping them get a point.

Robert Page’s side took the lead thanks to Aaron Ramsey in what was a frantic first half. That, however, didn’t last long as Jakub Pesek levelled the score a little over a minute later.

Wales came out in the second half and really took the game to the Czech Republic. They were undoubtedly the better side, but a bizarre goalkeeping error by Danny Ward gave the hosts the lead.

Ramsey’s lads responded well and equalised through James, who showed immense composure in front of goal. He has been lauded by his country’s media for his strike that helped Wales avoid defeat last night.

Dan James gets a 7/10 rating for Wales performance

released their player ratings following the game last time and James was given a 7/10. Only skipper Ramsey was given a higher score (8) thanks to his opener and a solid all-round display in the middle of the park.

The media outlet described James’ performance saying: “The Leeds United flier had so much space to work in.

“His pass to Moore when the pair were through on goal was frustratingly overhit in the first half. Had ice in his veins for Wales’ second though, a great finish under pressure.”

In his 90 minutes on the pitch, James had 42 touches of the ball and registered four key passes, which is an excellent return. () It’s a shame that his pass to Moore in the first half was overhit, but he still deserves a ton of praise for his performance.

Leeds United fans would’ve been delighted to see their new boy pick up a goal on international duty. They’ll be hoping that he can carry that form when Marcelo Bielsa’s men face Southampton when the Premier League returns next weekend.
