Ian Wright tells Raheem Sterling what he needs to do at Arsenal immediately to win supporters around

Since his loan move from Chelsea in the summer, Raheem Sterling’s woes at Arsenal have been quite well documented.

When Arsenal secured Sterlingဣ on deadline day it was anticipated that the England international would be an upgrade on Reiss Nelson, who headed to Fulham on the same day.

💧Sterling was supposed to add greater depth to Mikel Arteta’s options in attack, and Arsenal had supposedly secured an addition who could cover for Bukayo Saka if he ever got injured.

🌳Of course, we’re now in that situation and Arteta has still been fairly reluctant to use the four-time Premier League winner, who does look bereft of confidence.

Rio Ferdinand wasn’t impressed by Sterling♒ against Tottenham and the on-loan Chelsea man then dropped back to the bench against Aston Villa on the weekend.

Ian Wright thinks Raheem Sterling can still make an impact at Arsenal

That being said, Ian Wright🦄 discussed Sterling’s predicament on the ‘Wrighty’s House’ podcast, and ended up offering a key bit of advice to the Arsenal forward.

🧸Wright recognised that Sterling was having a ‘tough time’, a player who Arsenal were unlikely to sign permanently beyond his loan, but the pundit still thought there was an opportunity for the winger to make an impact.

🐼He explained: “I feel Raheem is having a tough time. I thought it might have turned the other day when I watched his little cameo against United, when he came on.

🦩“He did look sharp, and I’m thinking, well, that’s the guy – that’s the guy we want.

💦“I think it’s not happened nowhere near enough, I think it’s fair to say.”

🐠Wright continued: “For me, for him now, with the situation we find ourselves in, with the lack of confidence in everybody, for him to just blast, just do what you do.

🐈“Simply because you get the impression that we’re probably not going to sign him, we’re probably not going to sign him long term.

𒀰“So what has he got to lose than just getting on it and just saying, and just going bam, because you know what? That would then give the fans something.

𝓀“He’s trying, he’s trying, because that’s what they want to see at the moment.”

Edu admitted that Arsenal weren’t targeting Raheem Sterling

Now he is struggling at Arsenal, Edu’s words when he signed Sterling are now very interesting to read.

♑The former Arsenal sporting director seemingly admitted that Sterling wasn’t a target for the club and was only signed as a last-minute solution, which has been evident ever since.

ܫDespite their good relationship from their time together at Manchester City, Arteta has seldom trusted 30-year-old Sterling despite all of his Premier League experience.

ꦉAnd in turn, the Chelsea winger has looked like a shadow of his former self at the Emirates Stadium at times.

🌼As Wright mentions, there’s still time to turn things around, but Arsenal fans might be more keen for the club to solve their issue in attack in the transfer market instead.
