Ian Wright shares what Mikel Arteta did against Aston Villa which suggests he needs ‘massive help’ at Arsenal

Arsenal have suffered a huge blow in the Premier League title race after throwing away a 2-0 lead against Aston Villa to draw 2-2 on Saturday.

🦹Last season, the Gunners’ title challenge effectively ended when they lost to Unai Emery’s side at the Emirates Stadium.

This time round, it looked as though things would be different when Arsenal went two goals up by the 55-minute mark.

However, the Gunners’ defence was caught out for both of Aston Villa’sꦑ goals, with Youri Tielemans heading home on the hour and Ollie Watkins striking eight minutes later.

Ian Wrightও, speaking after the game, explained what Mikel Arteta did with his squad which suggests he needs “massive help”.

Ian Wright says Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal selection against Villa shows he needs help

🙈Wright, speaking to the official , said having to name Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back and Thomas Partey at right-back shows Arteta needs new players.

♍The Highbury legend also said Arsenal needed reinforcements in attack even before Saka suffered his injury – since then, Gabriel Jesus has also suffered an injury.

🃏“It’s a disappointment when 2-0 up at home,” said Wright. “Looks like it’s comfortable. We know that Villa on the break can be a problem, they showed that.

𒈔“I think the manager needs massive help. We have to buy some players. Even when Saka was fit we needed another forward.”

🧜Wright went on to say: “Who do Arsenal get in this window? Who is going to let go of the players Arsenal need, top end players, that will allow them to finish this race off?

🐟“Look at the team today, Thomas Partey at right-back, a young kid in Myles Lewis-Skelly at left-back, Arsenal need help.”

𝐆Arsenal fans also criticised Partey’s display at right-back against Aston Villa.

Who Arsenal could sign this year

🍬Arsenal have mostly been linked with forwards this month in wake of injuries to Saka and Jesus.

ꦜAlexander Isak is said to be Arsenal’s ideal signing🐈, though he’d be a difficult player to land in January.

Dusan Vlahovic is a target for Arsenal, while Jonathan David has been linked to the Gunners too.

Martin Zubimendi is also wanted by Arsenal♏, though he’s being tipped for a summer transfer rather than a January move.

꧑The likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid and Barcelona are also keen on the Spain international.
