Ian Wright says one Liverpool player had a ‘torrid time’ against Bukayo Saka and Arsenal

Arsenal and Liverpool played out a thrilling encounter at The Emirates today and Ian Wright believes one Reds player was given a serious run around.

The Gunners and the Reds are always good value for an entertaining game and that’s exactly what we got today in north London.

Goals were a feature of the game as both sides went for it in their bid to keep pace with Manchester City.

However, for every goal that goes in, a defender will get scrutinised and for Liverpool, it was experienced left-back Andy Robertson who was having a tough time.

So much so, that Ian Wright believes Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka has now got Robertson’s number.

Ian Wright comments on Bukayo Saka and Andy Robertson battle during Liverpool v Arsenal

Speaking for , former Arsenal striker Wright spoke of the battle between Saka and Robertson.

And according to Wright, a more mature Saka is now getting the better of the Liverpool defender.

“Saka has given Robertson a torrid time,” Wright said.

“In his early days, Robertson was very good with him but he’s good stronger, quicker and more experienced. [For the goal] Saka and White’s eyes must have met, they have a great relationship. It was the perfect start.”

Liverpool will be looking for a new left-back soon enough

It’s not a huge criticism of Robertson and he remains a quality player for the Reds.

However, like most players at Liverpool in recent years, he’s put so much into his time at Anfield that eventually things will catch up with him.

For Liverpool, they don’t have anyone coming through on the left like Conor Bradley on the right and because of that, a dip into the market could be forthcoming.

Robertson still has a role to play for Liverpool for some time yet. But in coming windows, don’t be surprised to see Liverpool look to bring fresh legs in.
