Ian Wright says Leeds have a talent in their ranks who’s so ‘exciting’ and ‘energetic’

Leeds United newcomer Daniel James has been praised by Ian Wright following his efforts for Wales on Sunday.

James moved to Elland Road on transfer deadline day for a reported £25million.

Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa finally got his man two-and-a-half years after failing to sign him from Swansea.

As per , “everything appeared to be in place but Swansea chiefs started to ignore texts and calls as there was a split in their boardroom over whether to sell or not.”

The 23-year-old subsequently joined Manchester United in the summer of 2019, where he made 74 competitive appearances.

However, James is now finally with Leeds, and fans have been following his efforts at international level ahead of his arrival at Elland Road.

The Welsh winger did well in Sunday’s 3-2 World Cup qualifying win in Belarus.

James made some great runs on and off the ball, and was involved in the dramatic last-minute winner for his country.

“I’ve got to say, Daniel James, his output today with his tackles, his interceptions, creating chances,” Wright said on ITV, via Wales Online.

“(I’m) very excited to see how he’s going to get on at Leeds. It was a very, very good performance from him.

“The thing with him, he’s so energetic. He’s so willing, he’s a willing runner, he never stops working.

“Today, the take-ons. He had the most take-ons today, creating, working back, interceptions.

“You watch him and he’s doing all that, and you can envisage him at Leeds and what he’s capable of doing.

“It’s an exciting time for Leeds and him, it will be a good move for him.”
