Ian Wright says he’s ‘astonished’ by just how good one Arsenal player is after win over Real Madrid 

Arsenal are on the verge of making some serious history after knocking Real Madrid out of the Champions League.

Arsenal’s Champions League dream was expected to be crushed by Real Madrid, but after a 5-1 aggregate win over two legs, anything is possible for the Gunners from here.

Arsenal thumped Madrid over two legs, and so many players deserve so much credit.

Declan Rice earned huge praise for his showings over two legs, while Mikel Merino was also hailed for his brilliance.

Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has been discussing Myles Lewis-Skelly’s performances vs Real Madrid, and he says that he’s astonished by how good this young man already is.

Ian Wright astonished by how good Myles Lewis-Skelly is

Wright spoke about Lewis-Skelly and how brilliant he was against Real Madrid.

The pundit was blown away by Lewis-Skelly against Real Madrid, leading to him questioning what on earth Arsenal are doing in their academy to consistently produce players of this quality.

“You know what, I’ve got to say, I’m astonished at Myles Lewis-Skelly. I’m astonished by his performances and his, I don’t know if it’s the exuberance of youth, or the fact that he doesn’t realise yet, but because he’s so wise and he’s so knowledgeable and he’s so intelligent,” Wright said.

“Obviously you can see that with him on the football pitch as well, but for him to be playing in a game like that, and literally he locked down Rodrygo, he went in the midfield, he was up against Jude, and I think he won that battle in respects of locking down a player, then going inside and doing his… I’m just thinking to myself, what’s going on at Hale End? This astounding, this is unbelievable what we’re seeing from Myles Lewis-Skelly”

Lewis-Skelly has only played a small number of senior games in his career, but he’s already showing up on the biggest of stages against the best of teams.

As Wright says, Lewis-Skelly was incredible against Madrid, and his stats over two legs serve to highlight his brilliance.
