Ian Wright says he ‘would be fuming’ with David Luiz after Arsenal errors

Arsenal’s Premier League restart did not go to plan yesterday, with Manchester City coming away with a comfortable 3-0 win at The Etihad Stadium.

It was an evening to forget for David Luiz.

The Brazilian came in for the injured Pablo Mari during the second half and struggled to get up to the speed of the play.

The experienced centre-back fluffed a clearance, allowing Raheem Sterling to score the opening goal. He then hauled down Riyad Mahrez to give away a penalty resulting in a harsh sending off.

Luiz, who Mikel Arteta insists should be handed a new deal at Arsenal, simply struggled to get into a game in which, until his error, Arsenal were competitive.

So when his error saw City score just before half-time, Arsenal fans were left disappointed.

It was not just fans. One former Arsenal player was clearly disappointed in the player. Ian Wright, a one time record goalscorer for the Gunners, took to Twitter to suggest he would have been fuming with Luiz at half-time after conceding such a soft goal.

Arsenal fans are right to be disappointed with Luiz’s performance but the player himself will no doubt be just as disappointed.

It is, unfortunately, not the first time Luiz has made such an error and Arsenal fans will just be hoping something sinks in on this occasion.
