Ian Wright says Arsenal have a £27m player who’s just as important as Bukayo Saka

Arsenal have had some rotten luck with injuries this season.

Indeed, earlier this year, Martin Odegaard went down with an ankle injury, and that was quickly followed up by Bukayo Saka picking up a problem.

On top of that, Kai Havertz is out for the season too.

Bukayo Saka made a triumphant return from injury against Fulham in midweek, but Arsenal picked up another injury issue in that match as Gabriel Magalhaes went down injured.

Speaking on , Ian Wright has been discussing Gabriel’s injury, stating that this is a massive blow, claiming that Gabriel is just as important as Bukayo Saka

Gabriel Magalhaes injury as big a blow as Bukayo Saka’s injury

Wright spoke about Gabriel and how important he is to this team.

The pundit says that this is a massive miss for Arsenal, noting that Gabriel is just as important at the back as Saka is in the attack.

“It’s a massive miss, it’s massive, it’s just as big as in respect of what Saka does for us going forwards, then Gabriel does it the other way, set-pieces, leadership, he’s a warrior. I think that the drop off from Gabriel, I don’t know how fit Calafiori is at the moment, when you pull up like that it’s not two weeks, it’s a month, six weeks,’ Wright said.

Gabriel Magalhaes’ injury history

This is a real blow for Arsenal ahead of what is perhaps their biggest game of the season against Real Madrid.

Thierry Henry believes Arsenal can get past Madrid, but they will face an uphill task without Gabriel.

Frustratingly, Arsenal really aren’t used to being without Gabriel. After all, his injury record over the years has been stellar, never missing more than a few games at a time.

As Wright says, this is now an injury that could keep the centre-back out for six weeks, and that means the defender is probably going to miss the bulk of the Gunners’ remaining games this season.

Whether or not Arsenal can get past Real Madrid without the man remains to be seen, but it will certainly be a tough task.
