Ian Wright says £50m Tottenham player is actually worse than Anthony Elanga at Nottingham Forest

Tottenham and Nottingham Forest have had conflicting starts to their respective Premier League seasons.

Heading into this campaign, you’d be forgiven for predicting these two sides to be in opposite positions right now.

Forest currently sit seventh in the table, going unbeaten in their first four games of the season, while Tottenham have won just one of their opening four matches, sitting 13th in the table.

Speaking on the , Ian Wright has been discussing Forest’s start to the season, and their two wide players.

Indeed, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga have been brilliant to start this campaign, and Wright has hailed Forest’s business in selling Brennan Johnson and signing two replacements for a fraction of the price.

In fact, Wright went as far as to say that both Elanga and Hudson-Odoi are actually better than Brennan Johnson.

Anthony Elanga better than Brennan Johnson

Wright shared his verdict on the Forest stars and their Tottenham counterpart.

“If you look at the business of selling Brennan Johnson to Tottenham for £50m and then getting those two (Elanga and Hudson-Odoi) for £21m, two players who, if I’m going to be honest, and this is not being disrespectful to Brennan, they are both better than him in what they can produce now,” Wright said.

“They may have the opportunity, especially Hudson-Odoi to kick on and show what he’s capable of because a few years back you would not be able to get him for that sort of money.”

Nottingham Forest’s transfer masterstroke

Nottingham Forest’s transfer business has been erratic to say the least since they were promoted back to the Premier League.

However, they’ve done some incredible business in the attacking areas.

Elanga and Hudson-Odoi were two inspired signings at bargain prices, while they sold Johnson when his stock was at its highest.

That has proven to be a genius move, and now, Forest look ready to seriously kick on and become more of an established Premier League outfit challenging for the top 10.

Meanwhile, Brennan Johnson has recently been criticised for his performances for Spurs.
