Ian Wright reacts to Caoimhin Kelleher’s display in Liverpool win

Ian Wright that Caoimhin Kelleher looks very, very good following his Premier League debut in Liverpool’s win over Wolves at Anfield on Sunday.

It proved to be an incredibly special occasion for the Reds. They welcomed some supporters back and put on a show as they beat Nuno Espirito Santo’s men 4-0.

Liverpool were incredibly clinical. But Kelleher was also given plenty to do during the contest. He made one particularly outstanding save from Daniel Podence during the first-half.

The 22-year-old was also able to showcase his potential with the ball at his feet, as well as when having to deal with crosses.

And while analysing the win over Wolves, Wright suggested that he was hugely impressed by what he saw from the youngster.

“He looks very, very good. The decisions he’s making and the saves he’s making. It was a really good play from the forward, trying to chip him there, Podence,” . “But when you look at it, that’s a super save. I know Adrian came in for a bit and he did a good job. But there’s a confidence about this guy. His pass here [after the ball was chipped back to the Irishman in the first-half], that’s a great pass.

“Great hands. This [when he claimed a second-half cross near the back post] is what gives your defenders untold confidence, coming and taking stuff like that. Super stuff, they’ve found another one.”

TBR View: Surely no doubt who Alisson’s understudy now is

It was a surprise when Adrian was left out of the Champions League lineup in midweek. But Kelleher went on to produce an outstanding display against Ajax.

He earned the chance to keep his place against Wolves. And Adrian would now be forgiven for wondering if he is going to get another chance to play for the club with Kelleher standing out once again.
