Ian Wright names the Manchester United player who must find it really ‘tough’

Ian Wright has given his verdict on Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund after watching his heroics against Aston Villa.

The Arsenal legend was impressed by Hojlund and hopes that he now starts banging in the goals in the Premier League.

So, what has Ian Wright said about Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund? Let’s take a look.

Ian Wright praises Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund

Well, Manchester United beat Aston Villa at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Tuesday evening.

Erik ten Hag’s side came from two goals down to get the better of Villa at home and pick up all three points from the encounter.

Rasmus Hojlund scored the winning goal for the Red Devils in the 82nd minute. It was the striker’s first goal in the Premier League since his move from Atalanta in the summer of 2023.

The 20-year-old Denmark international striker, who does not seem to be highly rated by Liverpool legend Graeme Souness, found the back of the net when he reacted quickest and scored after Bruno Fernandes’s corner had struck John McGinn and bounced free inside the penalty area.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright is pleased to see Hojlund finally score in the Premier League and hopes that the youngster now explodes.

The striker scored five goals in six UEFA Champions League matches for United this season.

Wright said about Hojlund on the : “You can’t look at Rasmus Hojlund and say this man isn’t trying. This man is trying. And the goal he scored in the small area where he scored, you won’t say it was a tap-in, He still finished it and finished it in a way where you think, yeah, get the ball in and around him, and this guy can manoeuvre.

“He will do it. He will make it happen. Get it in there for him. So, for him to score, you just felt relief for this poor guy. He is 20, and it is arguably one of the worst periods in Manchester United’s history, one of them. You have got a 20-year-old who has been brought in for a fortune, who has not scored yet in the Premier League, and he scores.

“The relief, the release, you could feel his emotions. His family was probably crying. I am pleased for him, I am really really pleased for him.”

The pundit added: “I am going to give him flowers, man. I am going to give the last flowers of the year to Rasmus Hojlund simply because he kept going, He kept going.

“It must be so tough being under the microscope of Manchester United, the global fans, he still hadn’t scored, to see him score, I just hope he can continue to do that, I really really do.”

Rasmus Hojlund needed a confidence-boost

I believe that Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund could now explode. The striker’s goal against Aston Villa will have certainly boosted his confidence, and I think that he could now go on a scoring spree.

United manager Erik ten Hag rates Hojlund highly, noting how good he has been in the UEFA Champions League.

And now the striker has scored in the Premier League. Perhaps we will see the 20-year-old Denmark international take his game to another level in the coming weeks and months.
