Ian Wright and Bacary Sagna react as Arsenal sign up to European Super League

Ian Wright and Bacary Sagna have both reacted on Twitter after Arsenal were one of six Premier League giants to sign up to the European Super League on Sunday – both underlining their disgust at the breakaway league as a whole.

The European Super League was announced on Sunday afternoon, to mass criticism on social media and from pundits – including Gary Neville who gave an impassioned rant live on Sky Sports. His view is shared by the overriding majority.

Arsenal have been joined by Premier League rivals Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea – while European clubs Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan also join.

The league is believed to be one that would happen mid-week, alongside the domestic football – and supposedly in place of the Champions League or the Europa League. Governing bodies, including FIFA, UEFA and the Premier League have had their say.

They state that clubs competing in the ESL will be barred from domestic competition, as well as representing clubs in Europe or even at international level. From an Arsenal angle, both Wright and Sagna have voiced their distaste on Twitter, too.

Wright gave a two-word verdict, while Sagna claims he will not watch football as much as he does.
