Ian Rush says £45m Liverpool player is just ‘unbelievable’ after watching him in training
Liverpool have a number of quality operators in their squad right now but Ian Rush feels one player in particular is ‘unbelievable’.
The Reds are currently in their first pre-season under Arne Slot and there could well be a big shift away from the Jurgen Klopp days under the Dutchman.
Slot is looking to exert his influence over the team and despite no new signings just yet, Liverpool will still expect to go well under the new boss.
Of course, key to Liverpool doing well will be their top players – and their forwards in particular – producing the goods on a weekly basis.
Thankfully, it looks like Liverpool do indeed have some quality in the attacking ranks.
And one man who knows a thing or two about putting the ball in the net, Ian Rush, has lauded one of the Reds’ forwards after witnessing him live in training.
Ian Rush says Diogo Jota is key for Liverpool under Arne Slot
Speaking on while observing a training session under Arne Slot, Rush provided a rave review on what Jota brings to the table.
“He is most probably the most natural finisher at the club. I keep saying it – he reminds me of Kevin Keegan,” Rush said.

“For someone who is a small man, he is very, very good in the air. He has got a football brain. He is a natural finisher, and let’s hope that he keeps himself fit. He is unbelievable.
“He gets stuck in, and he gives 100%. That’s what all supporters want. Jota normally gives 100%. He also scores goals as well.”
Jota had a nightmare season last year as he had to come back from a serious injury but in the end, he did return to help the Reds.
The Portuguese forward has been referred to as Liverpool’s answer to a Roberto Firmino replacement and it’s easy to see why.
As Rush says here, if Jota can stay fit then he’s going to be absolutely key in the Arne Slot era.
Jota is not the only man to impress in pre-season either, with Arne Slot apparently really impressed by young defender, Sepp van den Berg.
