Ian Poveda makes exciting claim about Leeds summer signing Diego Llorente
that summer signing Diego Llorente has settled in well at Leeds United and while he has been sidelined with numerous injuries – Poveda is excited at what he can offer the Yorkshire side.
Llorente, 27, has managed just one appearance for Leeds United since his £23million () move to Elland Road. It came in the form of 3-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, in which he impressed despite it being his debut.
The Spain international suffered a groin problem after joining Leeds from Real Sociedad while on Spain duty, and has since suffered another injury following the Chelsea game. But he is said to be a few weeks away from returning.
Leeds fans are keen to see Llorente in a Leeds shirt but have been made to be patient regarding the defender. Speaking about Llorente behind the scenes, Poveda stated that the Whites are excited to see him return from injury.

“We don’t have any little groups, everyone gets along with everyone,” . “I speak to people in Spanish, or English. Diego for example, has been settling in quite well.
“He has been unlucky with injuries. But you can’t really predict that. But he’s a really good player and we are excited to see what he has to offer us because we trust him and he has a lot to give us, so it’s good.”
TBR’s view – If Llorente comes in, who does he replace?
There are numerous ways in which Llorente could be integrated. Currently, Luke Ayling and Pascal Struijk are playing at centre-back and given that Struijk is still learning the ropes, he could be a straight swap for the Dutchman.
However, Struijk has impressed and it could be that Llorente allows Ayling to resort to his more natural position of right-back. That would see Stuart Dallas return to left-back, and Gjanni Alioski is dropped.
