Ian Harte sends message to Niall Huggins after Leeds debut
Ian Harte has taken to Instagram to express his delight for Niall Huggins after the Leeds United starlet was handed his first-team debut on Sunday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been left with plenty to ponder following their 4-2 loss at Arsenal. The Whites were punished for a number of mistakes during the first-half as the Gunners took a 3-0 lead into the break.
Bielsa made two changes at the interval. And shortly after Arsenal got their fourth, the Leeds boss decided to turn to Huggins.
The 20-year-old has often been one of the standout performers for the under-23s this season. And he has been rewarded with a number of appearances on the bench in recent weeks.
Like Robbie Gotts last January, his first-team bow ultimately came at the Emirates. Huggins replaced Gjanni Alioski after 53 minutes.
And he certainly played his part as Leeds threatened to fight their way back into the game. They scored twice in the latter stages to set up a nervy finish.
Huggins did not look out of place in the game. He seemed to be everywhere as Leeds appeared to adopt a more fluid approach to the rest of the contest.
He kept things simple when in possession. It would be absolutely no surprise if he does not have to wait too long for his second appearance for the club.
And Harte – who acts as the youngster’s agent – took to social media to laud Huggins following his debut…
