‘I was angry’ with Klopp: Liverpool star highlights motivation for stunning Barcelona comeback
Liverpool are through to the Champions League final after a sensational second-leg win over Barcelona at Anfield. The Reds, trailing 3-0 from the first-leg, won 4-0 to secure a place in the final.
It was a sensational evening, with two unlikely heroes for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Divock Origi scored twice, in for the injured Roberto Firmino. Meanwhile, Georginio Wijnaldum found his goalscoring touch to also find a brace.

The Dutchman only came into the game after Andrew Robertson picked up an injury. after the conclusion of the match, he made it clear that acted as extra motivation for his display.
“I was really angry at the manager that he put me on the bench. So when I came in I had to do something. I just tried to help the team. I am just happy I could help the team with two goals. But overall it was a good team performance.
“We believed from the start that we can win 4-0. People from outside, they thought it was not possible. We knew it was possible.”
If this is how Wijnaldum plays when angry, then Klopp should bench him every week. It was a tremendous impact display from the Dutchman, one of Liverpool’s unsung heroes this season.
It also goes to show the brilliant mentality that Klopp has instilled within the Liverpool team. Wijnaldum, Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri all stepped up today despite definite reasons to be disgruntled.
Instead of moaning about it, they poured their hearts into a performance worthy of the Liverpool shirt. The results will resonate around the football world for years to come.
