Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte was a happy man, just like all Spurs fans, after his side secured an impressive 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion last night.

The North Londoners have had a topsy-turvy season so far. They’ve won just five of their last 10 Premier League games and getting his side to find proper consistency has been Conte’s biggest challenge.

After a heartbreaking defeat at Old Trafford against Manchester United, Spurs had to bounce back yesterday and they did that in style.

Spurs fans are happy again and Conte has urged them to keep pushing every single player in every game they play – starting from Sunday when West Ham come to North London.

Antonio Conte: I want to Tottenham fans to push the players

He told after the game last night: “I’d like to feel our crowd, our fans, to push us from the start until the end because the three points against West Ham are vital for us.

“I’m sure about this.

“But I want to call our fans to do this, but I’m sure it’ll happen.

“They are very brilliant and they deserve a big achievement, our fans.”

It’s needless to say that football is nothing without fans but in Tottenham’s case, it’s important for every player to remember that.

It has been over 14 years since Spurs last won a trophy. That is a terrible record for a ‘big club’ but their supporters continue to back them week in, week out.

Now, with a proven winner like Conte at the helm, that support is more important than ever.

If Tottenham fans can create a very difficult atmosphere for West Ham this weekend, Spurs will be the favourites to pick up a win and leapfrog the Hammers in the table. That could prove to be huge in the top-four race.
