‘I think’: Gabriel Agbonlahor delivers his verdict over whether Aston Villa should sack Steven Gerrard now
Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has delivered his verdict on whether the club should sack manager Steven Gerrard.
Villa have endured a tough start to the season, losing two of their first three games.

They secured an important midweek win against Bolton in the Carabao Cup, with Douglas Luiz’s goal directly from a corner the main highlight.
Gerrard will be hoping his side carry that form into Sunday’s league match against bottom of the league West Ham United.
Agbonlahor delivers Gerrard verdict
Agbonlahor has previous said that Gerrard is under pressure at Villa Park.
“I’m not (worried about Aston Villa), because he built a top squad there.
“Yes, Bolton, League One, they beat them 4-1 in the Carabao Cup, but you’ve got to give him time.
“Look at Arteta last season, after three or four games they were bottom of the league, and look at them now.
“I think managers need to start getting more time and not just be ‘Oh, I’ll sack him, you’ve lost to Bournemouth, you’ve lost to Crystal Palace, sack him’ that’s what some Villa fans out there on Twitter are saying, it’s ridiculous.
“Give him the season and see where he can get this Villa side.”
Giving Gerrard time to work with his squad is important, but there’s not been a huge amount of turnover this summer.
Villa have only spent significant fees of Diego Carlos – who is now out with a long-term injury – and Philippe Coutinho, who was with the squad last season.

The introduction of midfielder Boubacar Kamara is the only new player who will regularly be part of the starting line-up.
Gerrard hasn’t lost any important players this summer either, and working out a winning formula with the squad he’s got needs to come quickly.
The Liverpool legend may need more backing in the final week of the transfer window to achieve his goals, with another defender being eyed.
