‘I think’: Everton’s bid for ‘fantastic’ player has just been ‘laughed’ at by PL club – journalist

Everton have been working on adding to their attacking options this summer, after losing Richarlison to Tottenham and Dominic Calvert-Lewin to another injury.

“I think it’s difficult because Everton are very keen. But again, they’re battling against Financial Fair Play restrictions.

“I think Southampton just laughed off their proposal to take him on loan with an obligation to buy.”

Adams is one of a number of forwards Everton are considering right now.

Chelsea’s Armando Broja is desperate for more game time, and is open to joining Everton this summer.

The Toffees have also been linked with a move for Ben Brereton Diaz, but whoever comes in, Frank Lampard wants the deal done quickly.

Southampton laugh off Everton Adams bid

Both Southampton and Everton find themselves languishing near the bottom of the table at this early stage in the season.

It would take more than a loan bid with an option to buy for Southampton to consider giving a team who could very well be a direct rival this season one of their players.

Although Adams has yet to score this season, the ‘fantastic’ forward started their 2-2 draw with Leeds United last weekend.

Given just how many options Everton are currently looking at, there may be easier teams to negotiate with than Southampton right now, who themselves are a goal shy side and won’t want to lose last season’s second-top goal scorer to a rival.
