‘I think’: Club owner makes revelation on £86m Tottenham and Manchester City target

AFC Fiorentina owner Rocco Commisso has said that Tottenham and Manchester City target Dusan Vlahovic could remain with the Serie A side.

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb , the Fiorentina official claimed that the 21-year-old Serbian international could stay with the Italian club as well as sign a new contract. Spurs and City were both eager to sign the striker over the summer.

The Premier League champions were keen to replace Sergio Aguero, whilst Tottenham viewed Vlahovic as a potential replacement for Harry Kane, who City were chasing to sign all summer.

However, City failed to add a striker to their ranks this window with Kane also remaining at Spurs. Vlahovic also stayed in Florence. And Commisso is now confident that the youngster will pen a new contract with the Tuscan club.

The Fiorentina owner said when asked about Vlahovic’s future: “I think he wants to stay. And I hope he gets his contract. Now let’s see when he comes back.”

Indeed, Vlahovic signing a new contract with Fiorentina will be a huge blow for both Spurs and City. Although the Italian side value the attacker at €100m (£86m) as , the Serb could have been an excellent addition for either side.

City’s need for a striker means that Vlahovic could have slotted in to fill the void left by Aguero. Whereas with Spurs, the attacker would have been an excellent backup or even partner for Kane in the forward line.

If Commisso can tie Vlahovic to a new contract with Fiorentina, though, both City and Spurs could be out of the equation to sign the Serbian international.
