‘I take your place’: Spaniard who left Liverpool in 2016 sends 11-word Instagram message to Fabinho

Liverpool Legends are set to take on Barcelona Legends in a charity game later today and Jose Enrique is a part of the Reds’ squad.

The game is presented by Liverpool’s sponsors AXA and the states that “the fixture will help to raise funds for a variety of LFC Foundation projects including its employability and training, and health and wellbeing programmes, which form an important part of the charity’s COVID-19 recovery support work.”

Liverpool will be managed by club icons Sir Kenny Dalglish and Ian Rush, while the likes of Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, Daniel Agger, Dirk Kuyt, Luis García and Milan Baroš are all set to feature.

Enrique, who spent six years at Liverpool before leaving in 2016, is back as well and he’s set to start at left-back.

Jose Enrique sends message to Fabinho ahead of Liverpool Legends game

Liverpool’s entire squad made their way to the AXA Training Centre this week to prepare for the game at Anfield today.

Enrique gave fans an insight into what’s happening behind the scenes, including in the dressing room that Liverpool’s players use these days.

The Spaniard revealed that he has been given Fabinho’s number three shirt for the Legends game against Barca. He decided to send a funny message to the Brazilian midfielder on .

“Fabinho, sorry mate! Just for one day, I take your place,” he wrote along with a picture of the Brazilian’s locker in the dressing room.

The Liverpool Legends side will be managed by Dalglish and Rush while John Barners and John Aldridge are set to act as the assistant managers.

Jerzy Dudek & Sander Westerweld are expected to play a half each in goal. The defenders who will be at Anfield for the game are Fábio Aurélio, Daniel Agger, Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypiä, José Enrique, Bjørn Tore Kvarme, Glen Johnson and Phill Babb.

Liverpool Legends’ midfield will feature Steven Gerrard, Jason McAteer, Steve McManaman, Patrik Berger, Vladimír Šmicer, Salif Diao, Stewart Downing and Dirk Kuyt.

In attack, Luis García, Milan Baroš and Maxi Rodríguez are all set to play a part later today.
