I saw £15m Tottenham player prove he’s incredibly underrated in win against Villa today
The word ‘underrated’ is often thrown around in football, but it can truly be said of one Tottenham Hotspur player after the Aston Villa win today.
Ange Postecoglou’s side produced an excellent display to secure a vital three points against Villa, who they will now believe they can pip to fourth.

It wasn’t all plain sailing by any means for Spurs, who did have to ride some early pressure on the break, even if they dominated the ball for most of the game.
But with John McGinn showing a rare bit of ill-discipline, which really didn’t look good on reflection, Villa were then there for the taking, with Tottenham happy to oblige.
And whilst it was Son Heung-min who took the sword to Villa late on, it was Pape Matar Sarr who made the difference at 0-0.
Sarr demonstrated his brilliant running off the ball to create an opportunity to assist James Maddison, and then executed the ball absolutely perfectly.
Before the game it was uncertain if it would be Sarr, Rodrigo Bentancur or even Dejan Kulusevski to partner Yves Bissouma in the middle.
And given just how imperious he was today, there shouldn’t be any debate moving forwards.
Pape Matar Sarr proved how underrated he is for Tottenham against Villa today
Sarr offers Tottenham something in the middle of the pitch that no other of their midfielders do, runs in behind.
If we look back to the Brighton & Hove Albion game last month, Sarr produced a similar run to score his goal.

And whilst the likes of Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur have some exceptional attributes themselves, they simply can’t do the same.
Sarr provides excellent balance when playing alongside the likes of Bissouma, and the duo compliment each other so well.
Signed for back in 2022, Sarr is proving to be an absolute bargain for Tottenham, a player who could be a stalwart of the Postecoglou era.
The Tottenham midfielder proved just how underrated he still is against Villa today, a player who should be a definite starter when fit.
Postecoglou will chop and change his team, he’s got too many options not to.
But when the big moments come, when the huge games arrive, Sarr will be there just as he was against Villa today.
All that being said, Sarr was celebrating how good one of his Spurs teammates is behind the scenes before the game.
