‘I remain very interested’: Manager tells Tottenham he wants to sign ‘important’ player from them
Tottenham Hotspur ace Steven Bergwijn remains on Ajax’s radar going into the summer, Erik ten Hag has confirmed.
The Spurs winger was being linked with a departure from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in January.
Ajax made an opening €18m (around £15m) offer, which Tottenham rejected.

Then, on 19 January, Bergwijn delivered a sensational performance off the Spurs bench against the Foxes.
The Tottenham winger scored twice in injury time to turn an all-but confirmed 2-1 loss into a 3-2 win.
Antonio Conte said after the game: “In the past when someone asks me about Steven Bergwijn I was very clear.
“I said that for me he is an important player because he has characteristics that in our squad we don’t have many creative players.”
Tottenham wanted £20million for Bergwijn and, in the end, Ajax couldn’t get the deal over the line.
Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Ten Hag bemoaned his club’s failure to land the 24-year-old.
“We would have gotten even better with him,” quoted Ten Hag as saying.
“Then we would have had another weapon.
“And the more weapons you have, the more successful you can be. He’d have been perfect for us.”
Ten Hag suggested he still wanted to land Bergwijn, saying: “I remain very interested in a player with his profile.”
On Twitter, The European Lad – via – quoted Ten Hag as saying: “Another chance in the summer?
“Well, I don’t think he will be away from our radar.”
Bergwijn’s display against Leicester showed just what he’s capable of when he’s on top of his game.
Admittedly, the Dutchman has struggled for consistency at times since joining Spurs.
But there was no point in selling him mid-season and it’s good that he stayed at Tottenham.
Now, Conte can work with him, try and improve his consistency, and then review things in the summer.
