‘I really like him’… James Ward-Prowse says £20m Tottenham player is so underrated

James Ward-Prowse has named Rodrigo Bentancur as one of the most underrated midfielders in the Premier League.

Speaking on the , the England international was asked to name the most underrated midfielder in the Premier League this season.

Ward-Prowse took some time to think, and he says that while he hasn’t played all that much this season, Bentancur is a player he really likes and enjoys watching every single time he steps onto the pitch.

James Ward-Prowse says Rodrigo Bentancur is underrated

The midfielder spoke about the Tottenham man.

“Underrated midfielder this season?” Ward-Prowse was asked.

“Underrated midfielder? Oh, he’s not featured that much but when I’ve seen him I really like him, Bentancur. Yeah, from the times I’ve watched him, what stands out is his energy, the way he can get about. He’s infectious the way he plays, he looks good on the eye, he makes good decisions. I’d say Bentancur,”  Ward-Prowse said.

He doesn’t get the credit he deserves in the wider footballing world due to the fact he’s been injured a lot over the past 18 months, but when Bentancur is fit and firing he’s one of the best midfileders in the Premier League.

As Ward-Prowse says, he’s an incredibly energetic player who drives the entire team forwards, and when he plays, Spurs do look that bit more electric.

Unfortunately, the problem this season has been getting Bentancur on the pitch, and sadly he’s not been able to play as much football as Ange Postecoglou would probably like.

Tottenham have been seriously hamstrung by these injury issues this term, and Bentancur isn’t the only player who has struggled.

Fingers crossed Bentancur can be back fit soon and he can show the wider footballing world just how brilliant he actually is.
